In April 2017 a homeless, 4-month-old stray kitten, whom Phebe and Mac had seen eating from the outside community food bowl, walked out of his stray-kitten-life and into her studio. He said “meow” a few times, and fell asleep under her desk. Hours and days later, and holding the door open many times, this kitten refused to go back outside. Delighted, they named him Harold-of-God. You may follow him on Instagram at, #HaroldofGod, or Phebe’s Instagram, phebephillips.
Phebe remembered, years ago, reading Cleveland Amory’s book, The Cat Who Came for Christmas. With a brief Amazon search she found three volumes in one of Amory’s work: The Cat Who Came for Christmas, The Cat and the Curmudgeon, and The Best Cat Ever all in one big thick volume titled, Cleveland Amory’s Compleat Cat. She began reading these stories out loud to Mac on car trips and Sunday mornings. The writings are so humorous, this is where the idea of this podcast came from. However, readings are not only from Amory’s book. A diverse group of books have been sourced.
If you have story suggestions, or would like to recommend a book or poem, please send an email to email@example.com. We love learning about books!
Show notes for each episode will post here in this section of the website listing the book and specific page being read. A “Buy Link” of the book will also be included if you want to add to your collection. Contrary to what most people believe, not all cat storybooks are for children. Many of the books in her collection were ordered from Amazon or Out-of-Print sources, and arrived from England.
